Frey grew up in Farmington, Utah, competing in USTA intermountain events before most fans knew her name. Her athletic foundation formed around structured junior tennis ladders, where she built a reputation as an aggressive baseliner with heavy topspin groundstrokes. She dominated local high school circuits at Farmington High School, capturing the Utah 6A state singles championship and proving her technical foundation against seasoned regional competition.
The turning point in her public recognition arrived unexpectedly during the winter of 2023. College football fans and NFL viewers noticed that the high school sophomore bore a striking visual resemblance to San Francisco 49ers rookie sensation Brock Purdy. Comment sections on her short-form tennis practice clips exploded with the comparison. Instead of blocking the comments or ignoring the noise, Frey leaned in. She produced good-humored reaction videos, posted training drills with NFL references, and watched her audience swell exponentially over a few short weeks.
By the time the 49ers secured their spot in Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024, Frey's digital footprint had exploded. Brands lined up to capitalize on the cultural moment, offering appearance fees, commercial flights, and event invitations. She attended the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, participated in official media activations, and demonstrated rare brand poise for a 16-year-old athlete under intense public scrutiny.
