Is Tyler Perry releasing a new Madea movie in 2026?
Tyler Perry Studios has not formally scheduled an official Madea feature release date for 2026. While mock trailers continue to trend on YouTube and TikTok, Perry's confirmed production schedule has prioritized other dramatic and thriller projects for his streaming partners.
Why did Tyler Perry bring Madea back after retiring her in 2019?
Perry initially retired the character after A Madea Family Funeral due to the physical exhaustion of playing the role. He reversed his decision in 2021 to produce A Madea Homecoming, citing a desire to provide audiences with lighthearted comfort and broad laughter following years of pandemic stress and political division.
Where can you stream the entire Madea movie catalog?
The Madea filmography is distributed across multiple platforms due to legacy contracts. Earlier titles like Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Madea's Family Reunion frequently rotate through Peacock, Starz, and BET+, while A Madea Homecoming streams exclusively worldwide on Netflix.
Does Tyler Perry actually play all the characters himself?
In most Madea films, Tyler Perry plays three distinct roles: Mabel "Madea" Simmons, her foul-mouthed brother Uncle Joe Simmons, and her straight-laced nephew Brian Simmons. In A Madea Family Funeral, he expanded this by playing a fourth character, the deformed amputee Heathrow.
