The incident unfolded during routine operational hours at the Mansfield Crossing plaza on School Street. An automobile lost control near the storefront parking spaces, jumped the curb, and slammed directly into the perimeter entrance. Glass displays rattled, glass panels shattered across the entryway, and customers sitting near the forward dining tables scrambled for safety.
Mansfield Police and fire rescue personnel secured the area within minutes. Paramedics evaluated the driver and checked patrons on scene for concussions and lacerations from flying debris. While the storefront suffered visible exterior trauma, the commercial kitchen and primary baking ovens located deeper inside the building avoided direct physical contact. Town building officials were dispatched immediately to inspect load-bearing posts and verify that the roof structure had not destabilized.
