When bands decide to capture a definitive live document, venue selection dictates everything. For Jeffery Jordan and his bandmates, bypassing Nashville or New York in favor of Memphis carried deliberate symbolic weight. The band booked two nights on September 4 and 5 to christen the Satellite Music Hall, a state-of-the-art concert venue opened in partnership with Live Nation.
The shows serve a dual purpose: opening a major new music venue in Memphis and tracking the audio that will form The Band CAMINO’s inaugural official live LP. Capturing a live record across two back-to-back nights allows the audio engineers to capture pristine crowd vocal interactions while letting the musicians dial in performance nuances between evening one and evening two. For Jordan, performing in Memphis remains personal. Long before festival slots and European tours, the band was packing sweaty 200-cap dive bars in the city’s Midtown district.
