Backing up published creative work solves only half the problem. For culture enthusiasts and casual users, the core value of an account lives inside their Favorites, Bookmarks, and Liked Videos feeds.
As reported by PopCrush during the initial shutdown scare, millions realized too late that third-party content curation lacks permanent platform storage. Your official data export file tracks these interactions, but it does not treat them identically to original uploads:
- The Liked List Limitation: In your exported archive, the Like.txt file provides a list of direct links to videos you have liked across the platform. However, these links rely on the host creators' videos staying online. If the original author deletes their account or geoblocking takes down US-based hosting nodes, those links return dead 404 errors.
- Exporting Favorites: Similar to likes, your saved audio collections and bookmarked clips appear as URLs inside the Favorite.txt file.
- The Archival Solution: Run the URLs found inside Like.txt and Favorite.txt through your batch downloader immediately after receiving your export. Do not wait. Once accounts begin self-deleting or regional CDNs restrict traffic, external reference links rot rapidly.
