Do Clew step in bindings work with any standard snowboard boot?
Yes. Clew was designed specifically for universal boot compatibility. You do not need boots with built-in cleats or specialized sole patterns. Any standard snowboard boot fits directly into the strap carriage, which stays buckled to your footwear throughout the day.
Can Clew bindings release accidentally while riding at high speeds?
No. The locking mechanism utilizes a two-stage mechanical engagement driven by high-tension internal springs. Lateral and forward forces applied while carving or landing jumps actively secure the highback pins deeper into the receiver. Disengagement requires pulling the manual release handle straight up behind the calf.
How do Clew bindings handle deep powder and snow buildup?
The baseplate features open exit channels designed to evacuate loose snow as you step down. However, like all step-in setups, stomping into the binding after standing in deep powder can press hard snow into the locking cavities. You must clear heavy ice or packed crust from the baseplate footbed with your glove before stepping in to ensure both locking pins catch securely.
