Actors often grow resentful when a single lowbrow gag overshadows their broader filmography. Tatum has taken the opposite path. Speaking during promotional appearances in late 2025, the actor marveled at the joke's stubborn refusal to fade.
"I had no idea that would happen," Tatum admitted while revisiting the scene's history on press stops. "You shoot something in five minutes on a set with Jonah, you think it's just a funny beat to get through the scene, and then twelve years later people are still screaming it out car windows at you."
Tatum’s easygoing acceptance of the meme has only fueled its appeal. Rather than dodging references to Greg Jenko while pitching high-stakes dramatic material, he leans into the history. His publicists and creative teams recognized that the meme acts as free, affectionate earned media. When an actor demonstrates genuine affection for their past work, audiences reward them with sustained attention.
