The physical injuries that put Clancy in a wheelchair occurred during the late afternoon of January 24, 2023. After her husband, Patrick Clancy, left their home on Summer Street in Duxbury, Massachusetts, to pick up takeout dinner and medicine from a local pharmacy, Lindsay strangled the couple's three young children in the basement with exercise bands.
Immediately following the attacks, Clancy slashed her wrists and neck before climbing out of an upper-floor bedroom window. She leaped roughly twenty feet onto the frozen, packed ground of the backyard. When Patrick returned home roughly forty-five minutes later, he discovered his wife lying bloodied and barely conscious in the backyard snow.
First responders dispatched to the scene rushed Clancy to South Shore Hospital before transferring her to a specialized trauma unit in Boston. The impact from the second-story window jump pulverized multiple spinal segments and fractured her lower rib cage, inflicting life-threatening internal bleeding alongside severe neuromuscular trauma.
